Rear disc kit - Fitting guide

  1. Firstly, remove the split pin and crack off the 46mm rear hub nut, then support the rear of the bus and chock the front wheels. With the handbrake off you can now remove the rear wheel.

  2. Remove the drum and slide off the hub. Disconnect the handbrake cable and remove it completely, you may wish to clamp the rear flexi brake pipe before removing the brake shoes and wheel cylinder.

  3. You are now ready to remove the back plate, this can sometimes take a while as the small securing dowel may be corroded, ease the back plate off and leave the dowel in place. It is vitally important that the back plate mating surface is totally flat and free from any flaking rust. You will see that we have replaced our old brake pipe with a new copper one, you don't have to do this but now is a good time if it might need it.

  4. Now offer up the new calliper mounting bracket, it should be a snug fit on the hub. Double check that when its tight, the mating surface is sitting flat against the hub. Do not force it on with the bolts, as this may damage the bracket. When you are happy with its fit, use the high tensile bolts provided and torque them up. We recommend the use of a liquid thread lock on all bolts.

  5. Now slide the modified hub onto the drive splines and fit the disc over the wheel studs.

  6. Bolt on the calliper carrier and fit the brake pads. You can now fit the calliper making sure the bleed nipple is at the top and connecting the new brake pipe supplied to the lower brake pipe outlet.

  7. Refit the modified handbrake cable with adaptor sleeve and bleed the brakes. Now adjust the handbrake ensuring that there is a small amount of free play in the cable to ensure it is totally released and allowing the lever arm to sit against its stop on the calliper.

  8. Don't forget to torque up the castle nut and put a new split pin back in. As with all new brakes, it will take a while to bed the new disks and pads in, so take it easy for a while.
